Hi!

"ACHILLES'S BITTERSWEET ARMOUR"

oil on paper 35x35cm

Through this piece, I wanted to explore the themes of love and tragedy. The image of Achilles's helmet in the painting serves as a powerful metaphor for the barriers we often put up in our lives to shield ourselves from vulnerability.
Ultimately, "Achilles's bittersweet armor" invites viewers to consider the true costs of our self-protective behaviors. While our protective behaviors may help us avoid pain in the short term, they may also prevent us from fully experiencing the joys of love and connection. Overall, I hope that my painting prompts viewers to reflect on the complex nature of human relationships and the power of vulnerability and openness in our lives.

"WHISPER IN THE DARK"

oil on canvas 50x35cm

One of the most striking elements of the painting is the color blue, which is used extensively throughout the artwork. The scene has a cold and eerie feel that is perfectly in line with the mood that I wanted to convey. The viewer is meant to feel uneasy and somewhat disturbed by the scene. The raven is a powerful symbol in many cultures, and its presence in this painting adds an extra layer of meaning and depth to the artwork. The raven is often viewed as a harbinger of bad news or death in some traditions and associated with magic and the supernatural in others, adding an ominous and mysterious atmosphere to the scene. The title - "Whisper in the dark", references the eerie and mysterious atmosphere of the painting, and the sense that there is something just beyond the viewer's understanding.

"UNTITLED"

oil on paper 35x25cm

I chose to leave this piece untitled to allow the viewer to bring their own emotions and experiences to the artwork. The nudity of the woman is a powerful symbol of vulnerability, and speaks to the larger issue of women's body dismorphia in today's society. The absence of a face is intentional, as it represents the many women who struggle with similar feelings of shame and insecurity about their bodies. The blue background, with its lighter and darker values, adds a layer of depth to the piece and serves to enhance the feeling of sadness and introspection that is central to the artwork. The shadow that the woman casts in the artwork can be seen as a symbol of the weight and impact of societal expectations and norms on the female form. Overall, this painting is a testament to the resilience and strength of the female spirit.

"OXYTOCIN"

oil on paper 50x35cm

This painting is titled after the hormone oxytocin, which is commonly referred to as the "love hormone" or "cuddle hormone" due to its role in promoting social bonding and emotional attachment between individuals. Whether it is between mothers and their infants, between romantic partners, or in other relationships, oxytocin is a critical component of the emotional bonds that connect us to one another. Despite its reputation as a hormone that fosters closeness and comfort, the properties of oxytocin appear to be at odds with the scene depicted in this painting. The naked man, hiding his face and lying on the ground, suggests feelings of vulnerability, fear, or shame, rather than the sense of security and comfort associated with the presence of oxytocin. The painting is designed to challenge the viewer's expectations and question the role of oxytocin in human relationships. Regardless of the meaning that the viewer takes from the artwork, it is clear that this piece is a powerful and thought-provoking exploration of the complexities of human emotions and relationships.
